Remind me not to move anytime soon!
If you have been reading my blog occasionally for the past couple of weeks, you probably already know that I am visiting my mom in PA. She’s moving and I’m helping her edit her stuff that she has been accumulating over the years.
She has lived in this house since 1979, ever since my parents divorced. It is a traditional 2 story with a full basement and attic for storage. She is moving into a ranch style home with no basement and no attic. Needless to say, we are getting rid of tons of her belongings so that she and her stuff will fit into her new house.
It’s a daunting task and mom thinks I’m being a little harsh. In my opinion, anything with 25 years of dust on it, gets donated, unless the item has sentimental value. We have spirited discussions every day and are slowly making progress.
Dot Pot is a small finished vase that I created using the shellac technique I showed in yesterday’s entry.

Whew Cynthia that sounds like a real job helping your Mom to move. Does she have one of those pull down attics in the ceiling of her ranch house? I bet it’s hard for her to get rid of things she’s collected for so long! Good luck with the moving. I love your vase, such a shiny finish on it and the raised dots, it’s gorgeous!

Dot Pot is GORGEOUS!! I have polka dot dishes, and it’d look beautiful on my dining table with them!!

Thanks for the compliments on my vase lynclay, omni and hibelu. I seem to fall in and out of love with clay every so often and now I’m back in love. During those off times I paint or pursue other creative endeavors.
Luckily, my mom is building her dream home, and at 68 deserves it. She is building it so that she can hopefully age into it without having to move, so no stairs, ladders or other hazards.
But, the STUFF! I’m discovering something about her that I had no clue about. She’s a packrat! Now I know where I get it from!!!
