I’m up really early today because I’ve given myself 2 challenges; one physical and the other creative. At approximately 6:45AM, I will be running 6 miles with my 1/2 marathon training group in an attempt to get in the “best shape possible”. I’m not at all motivated! But, I have loaded my IPod Shuffle and can veg out to some music whilst I torture my body.
Yesterday, I was inspired to embark on a 30 day creative challenge, which if successful could become a 365 day challenge. The motivation behind this one is not physical, rather I want to get back into painting and devised this as a sat there blankly in front of a canvas that I had started months ago.
I stood back and decided to scale back and paint a small work every day and I centered in on the popular ACEO or Art Cards Editions and Originals. Each card is 2.5 x 3.5 inches, the size of a standard playing card. Yesterday, I finished 2. I was so excited to get re-acquainted with my paints and brushes and am ready to tackle #3 today. My primary subjects for these small works are common household and garden flowers, however, I am open for suggestions if anyone is interested in making one!
Painting small has its own challenges, but it also has its own rewards. The reward being that I can finish one in about an hour. I normally list work on Etsy, but have decided to see what the market will bring on eBay. After 30 days, I will average the prices out for these cards. I could definitely see some of these becoming larger paintings.
For auction on eBay.
