30 Day Challenge

I’m up really early today because I’ve given myself 2 challenges; one physical and the other creative. At approximately 6:45AM, I will be running 6 miles with my 1/2 marathon training group in an attempt to get in the “best shape possible”. I’m not at all motivated! But, I have loaded my IPod Shuffle and can veg out to some music whilst I torture my body.
Yesterday, I was inspired to embark on a 30 day creative challenge, which if successful could become a 365 day challenge. The motivation behind this one is not physical, rather I want to get back into painting and devised this as a sat there blankly in front of a canvas that I had started months ago.
I stood back and decided to scale back and paint a small work every day and I centered in on the popular ACEO or Art Cards Editions and Originals. Each card is 2.5 x 3.5 inches, the size of a standard playing card. Yesterday, I finished 2. I was so excited to get re-acquainted with my paints and brushes and am ready to tackle #3 today. My primary subjects for these small works are common household and garden flowers, however, I am open for suggestions if anyone is interested in making one!
Painting small has its own challenges, but it also has its own rewards. The reward being that I can finish one in about an hour. I normally list work on Etsy, but have decided to see what the market will bring on eBay. After 30 days, I will average the prices out for these cards. I could definitely see some of these becoming larger paintings.
For auction on eBay.

Very neat idea. Now I want to do this for me…LOL. I haven’t been out to take pictures in way too long. Tomorrow is the day for sure.
I think it’s great that you set yourself “challenges”, as opposed to goals…it’s much more competitive to keep you motivated. At least that’s how I would view it for me.
And of course, the paintings are very nice!
Good luck and best wishes!

Thanks Amber! It is good for me to shake it up once in awhile. 30 days is doable, it’s like a set schedule (sometimes I need that). Hopefully, I will want to keep going with this personal challenge, I hope my painting will improve and maybe it will lead me in a new direction. Who knows?

Hi, Cynthia,
I love the idea of the 30-day challenge. I’m curious to see how you feel about it at the end of the 30 days — love it, or something else!
Good luck with eBay!

I’ll need luck with eBay, I’ve taken a break from it for a few months now. The one thing about painting everyday is just leaving out my paints and brushes and having paper measured and ready to go. It’s a bit of a mess in my work area.

I hear you on that one. My dining room table is a write-off…lol. I live in a tiny place, so my dining room is my studio…hahaha.
