Star Gazer Lily #12 in the 30 Day Painting Challenge
I’m back on track!!! After taking a couple of days off to play, I’m back to painting. To tell you the truth, I was taking a nap today and made myself get up and fulfill my challenge. After all it is personal!
A few days ago, I asked my mom what her favorite flower is. She had a hard time answering and finally settled on the Star Gazer Lily. I just happen to really like them myself and had them growing in my yard before lily loving beetles devoured them! I wish I had a photo of the beetles, they were beautiful bright red and black.
So, I painted the star gazer lily as part of my painting challenge. Don’t worry mom, I know you want this one…but I’m painting a larger one for you! ; )

I like the beetle idea, too - that could be your animal!
BTW - I’m quite familiar with the “lets get outta the rat race” feeling you posted about back with the photo of your husband. We’re already out in the country but we repeatedly get into detailed discussions about how we want to go wind powered & get even more remote… do you have any good lottery numbers? LOL!

Wow Cynthia you did an excellent job on this one! It’s beautiful, you captured the exact color and shape of these lillies!
OK I am wondering if I have seen some of the beetles you describe cause several years ago I remember seeing some scarlet red and black beetles that had completely devoured a plant I had out front. That was the only time I’ve ever seen them though!

I was just reading up on the lily beetles and apparently they were imported into Canada as a type of control and like many of man’s intentions, they have really wreaked havoc on an unintended target. I saw them in Maine, though haven’t seen them here in CO. There are other beetles here though.

Excellent. My favorite so far. You are quite talented.
