I got a little lax this weekend. No painting Saturday, Sunday or Monday. But, I wasn’t laying on the sofa eating bon bons either. On Saturday, I ran with my 1/2 marathon training group…8 miles in HOT 100 degree weather and then laid flagstone that afternoon and again on Sunday. As much as it sucked and hurt to physically exert myself, part of running serves as a reminder that I am alive and that I have choices. There are far worse fates than pushing oneself physically.
I have been thinking about that recently because a cyber friend of mine who creates some really interesting, thought provoking and profound art has posted some entries in her blog the past few days about Iraq, fear, childhood, motherhood, society and humanity. The issues are explored in a recent painting and she has laid out a rather nice chronicle of the genesis of her work. Please visit Jafabrit’s blog and check it out!
Yesterday, I didn’t pysically do anything and I did lay on the sofa (no bon bons though). I was hungover. After we finished laying the flagstone for our patio on Sunday, my SIL made some really killer mojitos and daquiris…those and the heat put me over the edge.
Today, I feel much better and decided to paint a little. #1 is a variation on a crow painting I did last week and #2 is a peacock chosen for his crazy colorful plumage. Each is 2.5 x 3.5 inches.
