I wanted to see what paint and thread would look like together and spent a better part of the afternoon playing around with this piece. I had already gessoed the canvas and prepared another piece of canvas that makes up the 3 little squares. In addition I painted bleach on the pink fabric, washed, dried and ironed it yesterday. I can’t seem to shake the colors that I really like working with! Oh well, I should just accept it and move on.

Those of you who stretch your own canvases probably stretch raw canvas, and not a finished painting. I had to stretch the finished painting because I had to be able to move the canvas through my sewing machine which would have been impossible with the stretcher bars attached. I haven’t stretched a painting in a long time…luckily this was a small one. Alas,the corners are a little bulky, even though I tried to get it as tight as possible.

Once again, I like the finished piece, but would like to work on a larger version in the future. I haven’t been trying to sell anything lately, and somehow, this is giving me license to play around. The only problem I forsee, however, is that I might end up with 60 little experiments!!!
