Colorado Sunset
Hello All! Just a quick post to let you know I’m back online. I made some silly mistakes this weekend when I decided to tweak my blog. Let’s just say that the tweak became a complete overhaul when I broke my website and had to repair and reload everything. Luckily, I had a back up of my blog, along with posts and comments. Many of the images are broken and the posts wonky, so I will be fixing those in the near future. Also, I’m not sold on the header – but I had to have something up there.
While I was in the throws of near blog catastrophe despair, I learned a lot and then decided to go ahead and combine my website and blog using Wordpress to power the whole kit and kaboodle. I also upgraded to the newest version of wordpress – 2.6 and then upgraded my K2 theme. Unfortunately, K2 wasn’t working properly, and I had to find a new template. I decided to use Tarski – it’s similar visually, yet different in admin mode. I’m still trying to decide if I like it or not.
I found a slew of really cool plugins that I’ve uploaded to my blog but am still exploring including a gallery feature, SEO plugin and more. Also, I’m still working on many of my pages, but, was starting to have blog withdrawals and just said screw it and decided to go live anyway. I’m going to be making some custom pages (a whole other learning curve) for my static ones – basically everything but my blog.
Today, I started teaching the last clay camp of the summer at the Art Students League of Denver before school starts here next week. In between teaching and preparing for class, I’ve been spending almost every waking moment getting my site back online. Unfortunately, I’ve done a lot of double work, but in the end, I learned how to do a lot!
If you’ve sent me an email in the past 3-4 days, and I haven’t responded, it’s because I inadvertently deleted the database for my email account. It’s back up, but I lost many addresses and emails.

Welcome back! Looks good so far. One day I need to sit down and digest all the information you have been posting — so will be boosting your traffic numbers.
Hey Cynthia, Glad you are back online. I went ahead and set up my wordpress site this weekend after getting my domain registered and going with BlueHost for my hosting company. I’ve not gotten much farther than that other than poking around the Wordpress software. I haven’t figured out how to use the FTP to get a new theme yet either. Lots to learn. Hopefully I can get my theme up and somehow get an image on my header. For now I am still at Blogger. Oh and I got the Dummies book!
Ah the woes of computer restructuring. I’m forever forgetting at least one vital piece of info. I hate that part of it.
The cool this morning is lovely though! I like the header, but I’m nuts about any and all things Colorado as you know!

The woes and thoes, Mary – oy vey. Sometimes, I think I should leave well enough alone, but I guess that’s not my M.O.
Well I am cursing a little but not directed to you.
I hope I’ve done everything correctly. I used the one click install from BlueHost. Of course it’s not 2.6 so maybe once I get the ftp thing figured out and see where all my files are I can try to get some work done. I’m a bit OCD about it, I need to go make pots! Best, Ron

Ron, I use Bluehost for my website & I purchased my domain name through them. My husband designed my webpage & worked with them. I’m in the process of moving my webpage to mac.com. It will be easier for me to manage & I’ll continue to pay (annually) for my domain name. I don’t want to dive to deeply in this computer – a simple blog & a simple web page. I do appreciate all the info & I’ve already begun to make improvements — so thanks for that Cynthia.

Glad to hear Ron! I’m actually cursing too – I know just enough information to do certain things, but get frustrated at not having all the technical information to make all the changes I want to see.
I’ve heard that about Macs Judy. One of my best friends has been trying to talk me into buying one for years now – I’m actually considering it when this one dies.
