Happy Mother’s Day
Now that my garden is waking up, and the snow has given way to occasional sprinkles – I am grateful that spring will soon become summer. Dappled sun is sprinkling through the front window, the familiar whirl of lawn mowers can now be heard on weekends again and even the birds sound happier.
My daughter’s school year is also winding up at the same time that it’s wrapping up for the year. There is a crescendo of activities and appearances that have to be made that is taking time away from my normal schedule and studio rhythm – be that what it is. Middle school orientation, school art show, Shakespeare Festival, Home Tour, field trips, teacher appreciation week, 5th grade graduation, end of year picnic, talent show – it’s never ending right now.
In other news, my family and I just purchased tickets to fly to Germany this summer. We’ve been socking money away in our vacation fund for awhile now and my husband found tickets prices that we couldn’t ignore – for about $500 per person we’re headed out of town in mid June. Not to worry, my in-laws will be keeping tabs on the dogs while we’re away. My step mother lives in Germany and we’re going to see her and my step sister, along with her family who we haven’t seen since my daughter was 2 1/2. I need to dust off my German language skills – though I admit that I speak much better German while drinking a Weizen or two.
We’re starting to plan side trips to different cities and towns we’d like to visit balanced with an 11 1/2 year old girl’s interests and attention span.
Tomorrow is Mother’s Day – Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out in cyber-space – especially my Mom, my mother-in-law Vicky and to Ulla (my step-mom) too!
Have a great weekend,
~Cynthia

Thanks Linda – the basket of gold is pretty fantastic and really brightens the garden. As soon as the heat kicks in though, the flowers disappear.
