Moving Day
Today is the day! Well sort of…. A moving company is coming to take most of our stuff away today. We are actually going to camp in our house with the dogs over the weekend and will physically move into the new house on Monday. Why? The bathroom isn’t quite ready yet. And, while I tried to rally the troops to camp at the new house (with out-house in the alley, primitive water source at the outside faucet and all) the rest of my gang weren’t into it. Somehow it’s more romantic when camping in nature vs. urban setting.
Lucky me won’t be here when the movers arrive because I am attending part 2 of orientation at the College of Architecture and Planning at the University of Colorado Denver – but rest assured, I contributed to the moving/packing effort. I’ll return to an empty house around noon and can look forward to a leisurely weekend before school starts on Monday. I’ve mentioned before that I frequently fantasize about living minimally and now I’ll get my chance! ;D
Later,
Cynthia

Is it that time already?! Seems like yesterday I was reading your posts about your family CONSIDERING the big move, then the renters, then the renovations needed… where did our summer go?! I’m sure you are asking yourself that EVERY day -ha! Enjoy orientation!

I’ve been asking where summer went for the past 2 weeks. It sure seemed fast this year.

When I finally stopped fighting the move in words and thoughts, I think I resigned myself to the move and haven’t been terribly stressed out or anything. The only exception was packing my studio which took the longest amount of time compared to any other single room. Funny how that happens! I wish I had one more week before school starts for both me and my daughter, but alas, it is not to be so.

Wow! The big days are here. I was watching the news and saw that you guys, CCD or CUCD, I never remember which, was having it orientation. It helps when you have movers! Well, I think it does!

UCD’s orientation at the college of architecture & planning lasted from Tues 8/11 – yesterday. 4 days! I only attended on Tues and yesterday because of the move. I’m sure other departments and schools were having orientation too since school starts Monday! Can you believe? Having movers helped tremendously. We did do a lot of the work ourselves, but not the really heavy stuff – that’s the last thing I need…pulling my back out or something.

Camping is fun and this time around it’s fairly civilized
Electricity, running water, showers, kitchen – couldn’t ask for more. Much better than the demon beaver we encountered a couple of years ago in nature.

Thanks Linda – It went very smoothly and I’m excited to start classes after hearing some of the speakers and the direction the school is headed.
