But, before I tell you 6 weird things about myself…I want everyone to head over to Diana’s blog, aka The Lone Beader, a talented lass and bead artist who hails from MA, who also happens to be a stagehand. She recently had her work featured Thursday as the Art of the Day on EBSQ. She makes amazing bead art and currently has a work in progress on her blog and today’s post really made me laugh! I practically spit my coffee out all over my computer when I first popped over! But you have to read the past few posts to get it.
Okay, 6 weird things about myself…this is hard because I think I’m soo normal!
- I like to eat cold left overs…sometimes more than the original food!
- I could eat rice everyday, 3 times a day…we buy it by the bushel!
- I have 3 favorite pairs of knickers…I suppose everyone does…why? comfort, color, style? I’m not sure, they just are.
- I have a strawberry shaped and colored birthmark on my left knee and in the summer when I wear shorts, people always ask me if I fell or something. I don’t notice it anymore and am always surprised when someone mentions it.
- I have very blond hair naturally I might add…to the point that everyone thinks that I color my hair. Sometimes I say I do color it if asked…people believe that more and move on (it comes my Scandinavian heritage).
- Because of that…I decided to dye my hair red a few years ago…I had red hair for about 2 years and loved it! I felt sassy! I should see if I can find a photo of me with red hair to share.
These little tidbits seem so personal…but it is me and about me, so here they stand!
Meanwhile, I have picked my next famous painting to paint and stitch…a Botticelli, actually a portion of a Botticelli fresco…this one is Giovanna Lemmi paying homage to the three Graces. I’m only doing 2 of the Graces…. I saw this at the Louvre years ago and really loved it.

I love these little tastes of The Real Person. Like you I’m #5 — to the point where I have blonde eyebrows/lashes. Mascara manufacturers have done well by me!
Cynthia, you are going to make yourself famous with these quilts. You get better and better. I can hardly waiut for the Boticcelli. He is one of my favorites.
I got tagged and posted my own weirdness on my myspace blog. Frankly, you seem quite normal to me! Thanks for including that link and I’m happy to now know we are both fans of Prince
Also, I would love to do that collaborative idea and I’ll try and get two fabric paintings done after Christmas - what fun!
These two Graces look like an excellent choice.
Hahahe! I’m so glad I made you laugh… Also, thanks for you kind words regarding my beadwork.
And, the painting you chose is beautiful. I can’t wait to see the results…
Hi Cynthia, I agree with Jessica, you looks very normal to me.
I like Botticelli’s work, especially the “Birth of Venus”. Can’t wait to see your one…
I know what you mean Andrea, I need my mascara!
Oh, Mary…your comments made me smile…I don’t really need or want fame…just a steady paycheck!
Hey Jessica, I am exicted about a collaboration! After the holidays sounds terrific!
Thanks Janet, it’s one of my favorites!
Diana, your work is really fun…you deserve a shout out! I can’t imagine what your bead work would look like in person.
Thanks Fennymun, I considered the Birth of Venus, and maybe that will come later…but for my small pieces, I needed to focus on something manageable. I could maybe swing the Birth of Venus on a larger canvas…I’ll have to think about that. Caputuring the cracked plaster is going to be a challenge for me.
You could always lay on a thick base coat of gesso, then paint. Scrunch and wipe in some raw umber to emphasize the cracks. Or paint, varnish with a clear coat, scrunch and apply raw umber.
Oh Janet your Botticelli work is going to just be gorgeous and I can’t wait to see it! I think you have hit on a fantastic idea with your mini quilts and I bet they will demand higher and higher prices and sell really well!! Thanks for posting your 6 weird facts and hey I love rice too! My daughter has one of those pink birthmarks on her arm and people were always asking her how she hurt her arm?
