All things considered, I’m pretty satisfied with how my donation to the Rainbow of Art Auction turned out. Some of the original design elements were chucked at the last minute, however, because they just didn’t turn out as fantastic as the image in my brain during the conception phase of the project. Mainly, the plexiglass portion incorporating written words and clay bees. Sometimes less is more. It might be worth trying again on a smaller scale someday. Writing in plexiglass is done in mirror image and it was tedious to say the least.

I had to remove the glass front to photograph the piece - too much glare. As with anything, I learned a lot along the way. My only regret is that I didn’t get to live with it a little longer. Yesterday, I did receive a really nice phone call from one of the organizers of the event, Joseph Moore, complementing and thanking me for my donation to the Rainbow of Art Auction. Overall, this has been a refreshing project to work on.

It’s 5:15 am here in Denver and I’m leaving for my 9 mile group run in about 15 minutes, so I’ll keep this post short. My mother thinks I babble too much in my posts so, for a change, I’m signing off.
I hope everyone has a good weekend,
~Cynthia

This is really beautiful and beautifully done
9 miles, yikes. I can manage 4 mile walk but a 9 mile run (well way to go).
This is beautiful Cynthia, The colors are awesome. You should be very proud of yourself with this….wow.
Got 4 miles (walking)in yesterday … 9 mile run, NEVER. Congratulation’s!
This is lovely Cynthia. I am sure it will do well at the auction.
Ohhh myyy! How beautiful! Oustanding! I hope that you have a good weekend as well.
*HUGS*
This came out looking nice!!!
Hey this turned out really fantastic! Thank goodness you’ll see 50% of it when it sells. I don’t think you babble in your posts, I love the way you write.

Good luck on the run…if’n I tried to do something like that they would have to pick me up at the end of mile 2 with a shovel.
Thanks Jafabrit! My running group has been building up to 9 - but I was still hobbling around yesterday afterwards…
You’re too kind, Nancy!
I hope so, Janet - the auction is this evening. I’m not going to be there, but should find out in a few weeks how it did.
Angela
Thanks Diana…
My posts are getting increasingly long, Heather - only I can’t stop myself. teehee…
I did end up checking the box that I would donate 50% of the proceeds to the organization with the remainder to me. I felt odd doing it, but, then this is like my 4th donation of the year. As artists, we get hit up a lot. I asked the person picking it up what other artists were doing, and she said it was a mix - mainly depended on the artist’s relation to PFlag, so I felt better about the decision.
Nine mile run, huh! Well, . . ., I was going to say something, but nothing would come! I’m realigning things in my life again. It’s all that tidying up that is doing it. Now, I just need to finish this bead room!
Good luck with your projects, Mary!
Good Monday, Cynthia!
I stopped by to see how the shadowbox turned out, and it’s beautiful! I didn’t realize, when you started the project, how large it actually was. Your piece will have a really nice impact on someone’s living space.
It must have been gratifying to receive that follow-up call about your donation. I’ve never received a follow-up call, and unless I attend the event, I usually don’t even know how my work was received. That’s just one of the many reasons I’ve decided to limit my donations to only a couple per year — and only to causes that I feel strongly about.
Gee, you decide to cut your post short and here I am, rambling enough for both of us!
Nine miles? You’re my inspiration. The longest run for me is no more than six miles. Also, that shadow box is very creative and so beautiful. I wish I can see it in person.
The box does look good;thanks for sharing the ups and downs.
The thought of a 9mile run has exhausted me. Ciao!
Cyn this turned out truely GORGEOUS and I hope you’re going to make more of these beauties!! eek, 9 miles!! (my feet hurt just thinking about it)
Thanks for making up for my short post, W.J.! It just doesn’t feel right unless I go on and on a bit so that eventually everyone will know everything about me.
It’s the masochist in me, Chi that forces my body to run when it would rather sleep in… Everyone can run 9 miles if they just get bull headed enough or a big bear is chasing them, the latter of which hasn’t happened to me yet…
Thanks Dinahmow - much appreciated!
Thanks Lynette - even though feet hurt, I’m high on endorphins the rest of the day after running a lot!
