I’ve been working on my website and am slowly returning images of my student’s work…
In April 2008, the students in my clay class had an exhibit at the Space Gallery in Denver and donated the money the made from the sale of their work to Mr. Andy who heads up the Seeds to Table Program at Steele Elementary. A slip transfer is a print making technique called a mono-type. The students painted their images on newsprint and then transfered their paintings to wet clay.

February 2009. Children ages 8 – 11 created signature stamps to use on their work. Techniques include coil making and direct drawing into clay with a dull pencil.

January 2009. Children, ages 8 – 11, used their hieroglyphic names to create wall plaque style cartouches. Techniques used include slab construction, direct drawing and sprigs.

October 2007. Children ages 8 – 11 drew images of real or imagines animals or characters after which they made masks out of clay. Techniques: hand building using slabs of clay, direct drawing into clay and subtractive methods.

Snow Flake Ornament lesson plan – easy and quick. Could be adapted for other seasons, holidays or times of the year. This project makes great gifts for teachers and grand parents.

April 2009: Clay kimonos created in my after school clay class for 2nd – 5th graders. Made using slabs impressed with textures and paper templates.
